Elder David J. Porter, is the Pastor of Kirkland Memorial 2nd Church of God in Christ, one of the largest, and fastest growing Church of God In Christ churches and ministries in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Elder Porter and his wife, Sister Nicole Porter, are the parents of three children - LaMar, David and Diamond. When not at work, Elder Porter spends quality time with his family, and continues his passion of writing and producing Christian and Gospel music.

Elder Porter is a Washington, D.C. native, and has attended and been a member of the Kirkland Memorial 2nd COGIC ministry since it's humble early beginnings on 8th Street in Washington, D.C.. His ministry has been blessed and Kirkland continues to grow steadily, currently offering several worship services each week. There are two Sunday worship services, including one in the morning beginning at 11:00 a.m. and one in the evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. The 9:25 a.m. Sunday School is both INFORMATIVE and EXHILARATING!!

Elder Porter is recognized as an outstanding orator, a preacher of this generation and the next generations. His message embraces the Lord's word, when Jesus says "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." Acts 1:8

The above words of Jesus outline Elder Porter's desire for every Kirkland member to experience the walk with Jesus Christ our Savior as his witness in our local and expanded communities of Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia.

Elder Porter, has established the 1st stage, and primary cornerpost of a multi-phase Kirkland Memorial 2nd C.O.G.I.C. ministry mission. This primary and cornerpost mission is outreach to the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area including Maryland, D.C. and Virginia, to transform as many men, women, boys and girls as possible into passionate and productive Christians that are true followers of Jesus Christ. He has developed a plan of execution that includes his leading the people of Kirkland in reaching up to God in PRAISE AND WORSHIP, while reaching out to collegues on the job, and all neighbors in the surrounding communities in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.. At the same time, continuing to reach in to those within the Kirkland church family to continue expansion of the ministry by ten fold or more over the next five years or less.

Elder Porter's ministry was launched from a strong and stable base of leadership and ministry, thanks to the legendary leadership and legacy of the late pastor, Dr. Isaac Sams. Dr. Isaac Sams was Elder Porter 's mentor and spiritual father, assuring Elder Porter was properly groomed, and grounded for explosive growth in the ministry. During this next phase of the Praise Zone ministry, Elder Porter has established and embarked upon a mission for the times: "Praising God, Embracing People and Changing Lives."
